Arunachal: Apatani Women Association Condemns Interstate Sex Racket Involving Minors, Calls for Stricter Action and Community Vigilance
Northeast Desk, 5th September: The Apatani Women Association of Ziro (AWAZ) has expressed deep outrage following the recent bust of an interstate sex trafficking racket that involved four girls, including two minors. In a press release issued on Wednesday, the association described the operation as a “heinous crime” that has shaken the community’s sense of safety and moral integrity.
AWAZ condemned the exploitation of young girls, stating that such acts violate fundamental human rights and severely tarnish societal values. “The fact that such criminal activity took place in our peaceful valley is deeply distressing,” the statement read.
While commending Ziro police for their swift response in dismantling the sex racket, AWAZ emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to bring all culprits, including traffickers and customers, to justice. “Our work does not end here,” the association stated, urging authorities to ensure complete accountability.
AWAZ also called for stronger preventive measures to safeguard women and children and urged the local community to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities. The group highlighted the importance of providing the rescued minors with proper care and support, advocating for their placement in child welfare homes and psychological rehabilitation to help them recover from their trauma. The association stressed the need for a swift reunification with their families to facilitate their healing process.
