Arunachal: Army Launches Search Ops to Trace Missing Mountaineer

Guwahati: The Khyari Satam Mountain is located in the East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Tapi Mra and his helper Niku Dao went missing after leaving on a formal excursion to investigate it. The Indian Army has initiated extensive search operations to find them.

Army helicopters were requested by the East Kameng district administration on Tuesday to conduct rescue efforts in the region.

Notably, two army helicopters are scheduled to investigate the area from the air on Wednesday, subject to local weather conditions.

According to the Indian Army, the state administration requested assistance from the Gajraj Corps, which is stationed at Tezpur in nearby Assam, for the search and rescue operation.

It should be noted that Tapi Mra, the first Arunachal person to climb Mount Everest, has apparently been missing for the past seven days while on a trip for the government to investigate the snow-capped Mount Kyarisatam, one of the tallest peaks in Arunachal Pradesh.

Associations for mountaineering and paragliding pleaded with the state’s chief minister, Pema Khandu, for assistance in finding the 37-year-old mountaineer.
