Arunachal: Authorities Prohibit Gau Dhwaj Yatra in Itanagar Due to Lack of Permits

Northeast Desk, 23th September: The proposed Gau Dhwaj Yatra (Cow Honour Movement), led by religious figure Jagadguru Shankaracharya, has been prohibited by local authorities in the Itanagar Capital Region, scheduled for September 27, 2024. Official sources indicate that the organizers failed to secure the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Police Department and lacked permission from the district administration, raising legal concerns about the event.

In response, a formal directive has been issued to prohibit the yatra within Itanagar’s jurisdiction. The Superintendent of Police for Itanagar and Naharlagun has been assigned to enforce this order and prevent any unauthorized activities.

Authorities emphasized the importance of adhering to legal protocols for public gatherings, reiterating that any events held without proper authorization will not be tolerated.
