Arunachal: BJP Expels 28 Members for Contesting Against Official Candidates

Northeast Desk, 7th May: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit of Arunachal Pradesh made a significant move on May 7, announcing the expulsion of 28 party members for a duration of six years. The decision came in response to these members contesting elections in their respective Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies against the official party candidates.

In an official order released by the Arunachal Pradesh BJP unit, it stated, “The following list of persons have contested election in their respective Assembly & Parliamentary constituencies against the official party candidates in the simultaneous Parliamentary & Assembly Election 2024. Consequent upon the recommendation of the State Disciplinary Action Committee, under chairmanship of Shri Tarh Tarak; the Party hereby expel them for a period of Six (6) Years from the date of expulsion order with immediate effect.”

The list includes prominent names such as Yeshi Tsewang, Wangdi Dorjee Khrimey, and Tenzing Nyima Glow, among others. These individuals were found to have contested elections representing other parties or as independents in violation of party directives.

The BJP’s firm action underscores its commitment to maintaining party discipline and upholding internal regulations. The expulsion serves as a reminder to party members of the consequences of defying party mandates during elections.

With this move, the BJP aims to reinforce unity and discipline within its ranks ahead of future electoral contests in Arunachal Pradesh. The expelled members are now ineligible to participate in party activities for the stipulated six-year period.
