Arunachal Chief Minister Lauds Indian Army’s Efforts to Preserve Rivers

Northeast Desk, 20th May: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his gratitude towards the Additional Directorate General of Public Information, IHQ of MoD (Army), for their innovative initiative to preserve rivers.

Taking to the microblogging site X, Chief Minister Khandu wrote, “My sincere gratitude to ADGPI for their novel initiative to save our rivers using the floating barriers method.”

He explained that the initiative utilizes the floating barriers method, which serves as a trap strategically positioned to intercept solid waste. Khandu highlighted the effectiveness of this method, noting that the lightweight structure remains buoyant even during fluctuations in water levels, effectively capturing debris and sediment carried by the current to prevent further downstream contamination.

The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of both citizens and the Indian Army towards the mission of preserving rivers, stating, “Kudos to citizens and the Indian Army.”
