Arunachal CM Celebrates Mom Niting’s Triumph at Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has lauded the state’s rising badminton star, Mom Niting, following his impressive performance at the 3rd Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament-2024.

Niting clinched a remarkable hat-trick of titles in the boys’ U-17 and U-19 singles, as well as the U-19 doubles event.

In a tweet, Khandu expressed his pride in Niting’s achievements, stating, “Arunachal’s sporting future shines bright! Congratulations to Mom Niting on clinching a hat-trick of titles in boys’ U-17 & U-19 singles and U-19 doubles at the 3rd Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament-2024. Also kudos to Laa Anu for winning the girls’ U-19 singles title and to all other champions, runners-up, and participants. Keep climbing the success ladder.”

The tournament, held in Keyi Panyor district and concluding on December 29, showcased outstanding performances across various categories.

Niting, representing Longding district, triumphed in both the U-17 and U-19 boys’ singles finals, defeating his district mate Pangdun Pansa in both matches. Niting then partnered with Pansa to claim the U-19 doubles title, overcoming Lower Siang’s Chipe Riram and Marmin Uli.

In the girls’ U-19 category, Laa Anu from Kamle district emerged victorious, defeating East Kameng’s Jamba Waii to secure the title.

The tournament concluded with MLA Laisam Simai presenting awards to the winners, marking a successful event that highlighted the growing sporting talent in Arunachal Pradesh.
