Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Hails Tripura, Meghalaya, and Manipur on Statehood Day
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended heartfelt greetings to Tripura, Meghalaya, and Manipur on their Statehood Day, referring to them as the “three jewels” of India’s Northeast.
Taking to social media, Khandu conveyed his best wishes to the chief ministers of the three states—Manik Saha (Tripura), Conrad Sangma (Meghalaya), and N Biren Singh (Manipur)—while celebrating their unique contributions to the nation.
Khandu lauded the states’ natural wealth and cultural diversity, highlighting their roles in India’s development. He remarked on Tripura’s advancements in agriculture and handicrafts, Meghalaya’s growing prominence in tourism, and Manipur’s outstanding achievements in sports and culture.
Statehood Day commemorates the historic moment in 1972 when these three northeastern territories transitioned into full-fledged states, reshaping the region’s administrative framework. Over the past five decades, they have emerged as vital cultural and economic hubs in Northeast India.
