Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Honors Major Khathing’s Legacy at ‘Soul of India Ride’ Flag-In Ceremony

Northeast Desk, 20th September: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu participated in the ‘Soul of India Ride’ Flag-In Ceremony at the Tawang War Memorial today, paying tribute to the legacy of Major Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing. The event, steeped in historical significance, underscored the pivotal role that Major Khathing played in securing the Tawang district and extending Indian administration to the McMahon Line in February 1951.

Chief Minister Khandu highlighted Major Khathing’s bravery in ensuring that India’s governance reached its farthest borders, protecting the Tawang region, home to the Monpa tribe, from potential threats. In recognition of Major Khathing’s contributions, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh has announced the establishment of the Major Ralengnao Bob Khathing Museum of Valour in Tawang. The museum will serve as a tribute to his life and as a symbol of India’s unity and resilience.
