Arunachal CM Pema Khandu’s Brother No More
Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu‘s brother and BJP MLA, Jambey Tashi breathed his last at the age of 44 due to a prolonged illness at Downtown Hospital of Guwahati.
Jambey Tashi served as a BJP lawmaker for the Lumla district in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang district. Tashi was a BJP member of the National Minority Morcha. He had formerly belonged to the People’s Party of Arunachal and the Indian National Congress.
He was elected from the 1-Lumla S/T Assembly constituency in 2009 without a challenge on a Congress platform. He won by 1499 votes in the 2014 election for the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly’s 1 Lumla seat over Independent Theg Tse Rinpoche, who ran on a Congress platform.
He ran on a BJP ticket in the 2019 Legislative Assembly elections and defeated Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap of the NPP by 1288 votes. Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap received 3279 votes, while Jambey Tashi received 4567.
