Arunachal: Congress Faces Significant Setback as Several Workers Switch to BJP
National Desk, 9th December: A significant political shift unfolded in Arunachal Pradesh as 937 former members of the Indian National Congress (INC) made a transition to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This mass defection occurred in the Nyapin Assembly Constituency, dealing a major setback to both the Congress and the National People’s Party in the region.
In October, a noteworthy event occurred as 48 members of the INC and National People’s Party joined the BJP during a mass joining at Tapioso under Sangdupota circle in the Papum Pare district of Arunachal. This gathering took place in front of the local 14th Doimukh BJP sitting MLA, Tana Hali Tara.
The Tapioso area in the Sangdupota circle, situated under the Doimukh assembly constituency, is a remote location where, in some areas, four-wheeler vehicles cannot reach due to the accessibility of only two-wheeler roads.
Undeterred by challenging terrains, the local MLA embarked on a whirlwind tour, utilizing bikes and scooters to reach citizens who are deprived of proper roads. The tour, coupled with a joining program, aimed to inspect developmental activities in the constituency while encouraging citizens to join the saffron party.
