Arunachal Deputy CM Chowna Mein Reviews Parshuram Kund Development Ahead of Major Pilgrimage Mela

Lohit District, Arunachal Pradesh – Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein recently visited Parshuram Kund to inspect ongoing infrastructure developments and ensure readiness for the upcoming Parshuram Kund Mela in January 2025.

During the site visit, Mein reviewed new and existing facilities, including a guest house and lodge for pilgrims, at this renowned pilgrimage site in Lohit district.

To support these developments, the Arunachal Pradesh government has allocated Rs 50 crore, supplemented by an additional Rs 50 crore from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). This funding is aimed at transforming Parshuram Kund into one of the largest pilgrimage centers in Northeast India.

Following the inspection, Mein held a strategic meeting attended by MLA Tezu Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai, ADC Wakro, and other key stakeholders. Emphasizing the importance of a smooth and successful event, Mein highlighted the need to accommodate the expected large influx of pilgrims during the Mela, which coincides with the Makar Sankranti festival each January.

He directed the district administration and the Parshuram Kund Development Trust to prepare accommodation for at least 2,000 visitors per night and proposed an additional allocation of Rs 50 lakh to the Trust to effectively manage the event logistics.

The Parshuram Kund Mela is a prominent annual gathering where thousands of pilgrims come to pay homage to Lord Parshuram. This year, the state government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure aims to provide visitors with a spiritually fulfilling experience, marking Parshuram Kund as a premier pilgrimage destination in the region.
