Arunachal Deputy CM Highlights Key Developmental Milestones at Dambuk Event
Itanagar: Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, and Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gao reaffirmed the state’s commitment to transformative development during the thanksgiving ceremony of MLA Puinnyo Apum in Dambuk, Lower Dibang Valley.
Both leaders emphasized the collaborative efforts of the “double engine government” led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in driving the state’s growth.
Addressing residents of the 42nd Dambuk Assembly Constituency, the leaders detailed various central and state welfare schemes. Chowna Mein highlighted significant advancements in Arunachal’s connectivity, including operational flights from Tezu, readiness of Mechuka Airport, and plans for the Rupai to Parshuram Kund rail line. He also spotlighted the Rs. 40,000 crore Frontier Highway project, which aims to enhance border infrastructure and regional connectivity. Mein further announced the approval of an Electrical Sub-Division for Dambuk, fulfilling a three-decade-long demand, alongside commitments to additional infrastructure developments.
Deputy CM Mein underscored the importance of cultural ties with Assam, mentioning plans to commemorate Bhupen Hazarika’s centenary. He also praised ongoing youth empowerment initiatives and community development efforts.
During the event, Mein visited the Dibang Multipurpose Project site, a landmark hydropower initiative with a capacity of 2880 MW. He described the project as pivotal for Arunachal’s energy infrastructure and economic growth. “This project is not just about energy; it represents opportunities for connectivity, tourism, and long-term development,” Mein stated. He emphasized the role of local communities and youth in driving progress, adding that bypass road proposals for Roing, Pasighat, and Gerakamukh have been submitted to the central government to support the project’s logistics.
Mein also inaugurated a newly constructed police station in Dambuk, aimed at strengthening law enforcement infrastructure, and laid the foundation stone for the “Conservation of Bongal Yapgo War Memorial Heritage” project. This initiative commemorates the 1894 Anglo-Abor War, showcasing the resilience of Adi warriors against colonial forces.
MLA Puinnyo Apum expressed gratitude for the approval of the Electrical Sub-Division in Dambuk, a long-awaited milestone for the constituency. Several dignitaries, including MPs, MLAs, ZPC Mama Miso, DC Soumya Saurabh, and SP Ringu Ngupok, attended the event, underscoring the government’s unified approach to regional development.
