Arunachal: Final Escapee from Namsai Jail Arrested Following Massive Search Operation
Northeast Desk, 22nd August: Authorities have successfully apprehended the last of four prisoners who escaped from Namsai jail in Arunachal Pradesh earlier this month. The final escapee, Gopal Munda, was captured early Wednesday morning in Nampong village, approximately 12 kilometers from the district headquarters.
The escapees, Mineswar Dihingia (37), Arjun Kandha (27), Gopal Munda (23), and Robin Surin (45), broke free from the jail around 12:30 am on August 18. Dihingia, Kandha, and Surin were apprehended on August 20 in different locations: Dihingia in Lekang Gohain, Kandha in Piyong Kachari, and Surin in his village.
Gopal Munda, who faced charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, was the final fugitive to be captured. His arrest was facilitated by local villagers and involved the coordinated efforts of the police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF.
Namsai SDPO J Molo praised the collaborative efforts of the community and the security forces in bringing Munda to justice. With all four escapees now in custody, authorities have intensified their efforts to ensure security and prevent further incidents.
