Arunachal Government Declares One-Day State Mourning for Late MLA Phosum Khimhun

Northeast Desk, 11th March: The Arunachal Pradesh Government has declared a one-day state mourning on Monday following the sudden demise of sitting MLA from the Changlang South constituency, Phosum Khimhun, on Saturday.

In honor of the departed soul, the official announcement stated that the national flag would be flown at half-mast throughout Arunachal Pradesh during the period of mourning. Additionally, there will be no official entertainment, reflecting the solemnity of the occasion.

Furthermore, the State Government has sanctioned the closure of offices, institutions, and market establishments for one day on Monday in Changlang district, as a mark of respect.

The State Government has also directed the Changlang district administration to arrange for a state ceremonial guard of honor to be presented during the late MLA’s funeral, recognizing his contributions and service to the state.

Phosum Khimhun, a five-time lawmaker, passed away at the age of 63 due to a heart attack in Itanagar on Saturday. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy CM Chowna Mein, and other dignitaries paid their respects at the late MLA’s official residence before his body was transported to his native place, offering heartfelt farewells and condolences to the grieving family.

Meanwhile, Arunachal West MP and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed his condolences, praising Khimhun as a progressive and hardworking leader who dedicated himself to fulfilling the aspirations of the people. Rijiju extended his respectful tributes and heartfelt condolences to Khimhun’s family, friends, and admirers.
