Arunachal Governor Adopts TB Patients, Emphasizes Support for PM’s TB Elimination Goal

Roing: Arunachal Pradesh Governor, Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd), adopted two Tuberculosis (TB) patients from the Lower Dibang Valley district during a visit to Roing’s district hospital.

The gesture was part of his role as a Nikshay Mitra, an initiative aimed at providing nutritional, diagnostic, and vocational support to TB patients.

On October 28, an official statement from the Raj Bhavan noted that the Governor presented food baskets to the patients and interacted with MLAs Mutchu Mithi and Puinnyo Apum, along with health officials.

During the visit, Parnaik emphasized the need to unite efforts to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of eliminating tuberculosis from India by 2025, ahead of the global target set for 2030 under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Governor encouraged the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the use of technology for better analysis and planning to combat TB. He commended the dedication of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, in driving social reforms within health centers.

Additionally, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Saga Migri briefed Governor Parnaik on the state of TB and other health issues in the district, highlighting ongoing efforts and challenges.
