Arunachal Governor Calls for Stronger Community-Security Force Integration for Border Management
Likabali – Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik has called for greater integration between local communities and security forces to enhance trust and cooperation for better border management along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Speaking at a seminar organized by the 56 Infantry Division of the Indian Army at Likabali military station in Lower Siang district on March 22, Parnaik underscored the need to strengthen border security through advanced technology and collaborative community efforts.
Highlighting the link between border security and regional development, Parnaik emphasized that securing the borders must go hand in hand with improving local infrastructure and livelihoods. According to a statement issued by the Raj Bhavan, he advocated for a closer partnership between the state government, armed forces, and local populations to ensure a more effective and sustainable border management system.
The governor pointed to the Centre’s Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) as a key initiative aimed at equipping remote border villages with essential infrastructure. He stressed that coordinated efforts among stakeholders are vital to make these villages self-sufficient and thriving, contributing to both national security and regional prosperity.
A veteran himself, Parnaik also highlighted the growing significance of information warfare in shaping public narratives and influencing perceptions. He urged for greater awareness and proactive measures to counter misinformation in sensitive border areas.
The two-day seminar, which began on March 21, featured discussions on a wide range of topics, including ancient trade routes in Arunachal Pradesh, the evolution of tribal societies, and cultural interactions. Experts also deliberated on crisis management, the importance of cultural sensitivity, inclusivity, and the role of the media in shaping public opinion.
Governor Parnaik’s address underscored a comprehensive approach to border security—one that balances military preparedness with community development and strategic communication.
