Arunachal Governor Highlights Key State Initiatives on Republic Day
Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen. K T Parnaik (Retd.) outlined 24 transformative initiatives by the state government during his Republic Day address at IG Park, Itanagar, marking the 76th Republic Day.
The initiatives aim to modernize governance, enhance the quality of life, and promote inclusive and sustainable growth across the state.
In his speech, the governor emphasized the state’s commitment to fully digitizing financial systems, streamlining service delivery, and fostering ease of living and business.
A “Bottom-up Planning” approach is being adopted to empower local administrations and encourage community participation, reinforcing democratic governance.
Key highlights included efforts to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and attract premier educational institutions to the state.
The ARUN Schools for Rising India (SHRI) Mission aligns with the PM SHRI Mission to modernize school infrastructure.
Additionally, the Dulari Kanya scheme, incentivizing girls’ education, is being revamped to boost female participation in higher education.
The government’s “Lakhpati Didi” initiative is set to economically empower 21,000 women by enabling them to earn over ₹1 lakh annually.
In agriculture, the state is focusing on natural farming, horticulture, and supporting local crafts to uplift rural incomes.
Infrastructure development remains a priority, with the state targeting complete physical and digital connectivity.
The government is also introducing real-time public infrastructure tracking systems to enhance transparency and efficiency. To address urban expansion, a master plan update for the Itanagar-Naharlagun twin city is underway.
Arunachal Pradesh’s economic growth rate of 11.01% exceeds the national average, supported by 100% implementation of 11 out of 17 major national schemes.
This achievement has extended critical services such as shelter, electricity, sanitation, healthcare, and employment to remote areas.
The governor also highlighted the state’s third-place ranking in the ‘Zero Hunger’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), with a score of 81 compared to the national average of 52, reflecting significant progress in healthcare and community wellness.
The state has declared 2024-25 as the ‘Year of Youth,’ with initiatives to provide advanced training in adventure sports and promote tourism.
The 4th edition of the Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Programme (APEDP) aims to foster innovation and job creation, while the SEE Trinity approach—Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Employment—is projected to generate over 25,000 opportunities.
Governor Parnaik underscored the importance of preserving Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural heritage amidst development and called for collective action against substance abuse, urging youth to contribute positively to the state’s progress.
As the nation enters ‘Amrit Kaal,’ the governor urged citizens to fulfill their constitutional duties and contribute to Arunachal Pradesh’s alignment with India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
“Our achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic growth reflect our dedication to inclusive and sustainable development. Together, we can realize Arunachal’s true potential and build a brighter future,” Parnaik concluded.
