Arunachal Governor Visits Mechukha, Reviews Health and Education Facilities

Mechukha: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) conducted a comprehensive visit to Mechukha, focusing on improving healthcare and education facilities in the border area.

During his visit to the Community Health Centre (CHC), the Governor interacted with medical officers, nursing staff, and patients to assess the availability of essential health services for the region’s border villagers.

Highlighting the need for efficient healthcare delivery, Governor Parnaik emphasized the importance of streamlining the supply of lifesaving medicines through quarterly planning by health centers. He assured efforts to facilitate the posting of additional medical officers and specialists to Mechukha’s CHC, addressing the community’s healthcare needs.

The Governor also engaged with Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), advising them to act as a vital link between the community and public health systems. He encouraged them to promote universal immunization, provide referral and escort services, and strengthen healthcare delivery programs. Proposing nursing training for ASHAs, he underscored the need for skill enhancement and better financial incentives for these frontline health workers.

In addition, Governor Parnaik met with Anganwadi workers, urging them to improve child health and nutrition while supporting children’s overall physical, emotional, and psychological development. He stressed promoting literacy and curbing school dropouts among children under their care.

As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Tuberculosis Mukt Bharat’, the Governor adopted a TB patient from Shi Yomi District and handed over a food package to the individual. He appealed to officials, business leaders, and affluent citizens to adopt TB patients by providing monthly food packages for six months, a gesture aimed at supporting patients’ recovery.

Focusing on education, a key priority for Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor visited the Government Higher Secondary School in Mechukha, where he interacted with teachers, students, and education officials. Addressing the students, he called them the future leaders of Arunachal Pradesh, urging them to be disciplined, motivated, and proactive. He emphasized the importance of innovation, positivity, cleanliness, and a readiness to tackle challenges.

Governor Parnaik’s visit underscored his commitment to strengthening healthcare and education infrastructure in border regions, aligning with the broader goal of holistic development for the state.
