Arunachal: Heavy Security Deployed Outside BJP Office in Itanagar Amidst Ticket Denial Concerns
Northeast Desk, 13th March: In response to the BJP’s announcement of its full 60-candidate list for the upcoming Arunachal assembly elections, heavy security measures have been implemented outside the BJP office in Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh. The decision to deploy heightened security comes amidst concerns over potential law and order issues following the denial of party tickets to many current ministers and MLAs.
The BJP party high command in Delhi simultaneously declared the candidates alongside the Lok Sabha nominees. In anticipation of possible protests and violence, ITBP and state police personnel are stationed at the party office to maintain peace and prevent any disruptions.
Notable denials include sitting Home Minister Bamang Felix from the Nyapin Assembly constituency, who has been replaced by Tai Nikio, and sitting Agriculture Horticulture Minister Tage Taki, who lost his party ticket to former engineer Hage Appa. However, Techi Kaso, a thrice-elected MLA from the capital Itanagar who joined BJP last year from JDU, has secured a party ticket.
Despite these selections, the denial of party tickets to many senior MLAs has raised concerns about potential law and order disruptions in the city. The heavy security presence outside the BJP office reflects the authorities’ proactive approach to maintaining peace and order amidst the unfolding political developments.
