Arunachal: IRBn Personnel Arrested in Anti-Drug Operation in Siang District

Itanagar: A significant anti-drug operation was conducted by the police in Boleng, Siang district, resulting in the apprehension of an IRBn personnel. The operation was carried out on the night of June 11, following credible inputs regarding drug possession and peddling by some IRBn jawans.

Acting on the inputs, a police team led by SP Siang J.K. Lego, along with Executive Magistrate Shanti Mize, conducted a surprise raid on the barracks set up at the Boum Kakir Mission School hostel. During the raid, Chow Silasha Khen, an IRBn personnel, was found in possession of suspected contraband substances and attempted to flee. However, he was apprehended and a personal search revealed a red tobacco container concealed in his innerwear, along with ₹6,200 in cash.

Further investigation led to the seizure of two more pink tobacco containers from Khen’s bedding in the barracks. The substances seized are suspected to be brown sugar, with approximate weights of 13.87 grams, 14.21 grams, and 4.40 grams. Due to poor lighting conditions, sampling was deferred and will be conducted in the presence of a Judicial Magistrate.

A case has been registered at Boleng Police Station under the NDPS Act, and investigations are ongoing. The suspect has named Shri Jowkhong Singpoh of Changlang district as his alleged supplier. The police are working to gather more evidence and bring the perpetrators to justice.
