Arunachal: Itanagar Observes International Yoga Day with Legislative Assembly Participation
Northeast Desk, 21st June: In alignment with the nationwide observance of International Yoga Day, Itanagar saw a significant celebration organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The event featured ministers, MLAs, assembly staff, and prominent figures like Speaker Tesam Pongte and Deputy Speaker, who all actively participated in the yoga session.
Speaker Tesam Pongte encouraged everyone to adopt yoga for a healthier life. He also urged the youth to shun alcohol and drugs in favor of healthy activities such as yoga, sports, and other physical exercises.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. This event marked Modi’s first visit to the region since beginning his third term in office.
The theme for this year, “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlights yoga’s importance in enhancing both individual well-being and community health.
Since the inception of International Yoga Day in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has celebrated the day at various iconic locations, including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The SKICC event particularly focused on encouraging grassroots participation and promoting yoga’s benefits in rural areas.
