Arunachal: Joint Enforcement Raid Unearths Illicit Liquor Cache in Bordumsa
BORDUMSA: In a significant crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, a multi-agency team conducted a surprise raid on July 31, targeting establishments along the highway and ferry ghats in Arunachal Pradesh’s Bordumsa area.
The operation, spanning from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, was a coordinated effort led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bordumsa, the Inspector of Tax & Excise, and SI M. Yomcha and his police team.
The enforcement drive resulted in a substantial seizure of illicit alcohol. Officials confiscated a total of 167 bottles of beer, 5 bottles of Breezer, and 4 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). This action is part of a broader, ongoing campaign by authorities to curb the unauthorised sale and distribution of alcohol, which has become a growing concern in the region.
According to officials, the raid was specifically aimed at upholding excise laws and protecting public health. The authorities have noted a rise in the distribution of illicit liquor along key transport corridors and near public hubs, prompting this decisive intervention.
Authorities have issued a stern warning to offenders, affirming that such enforcement drives will be ramped up in the coming days. The public has been encouraged to actively participate in this campaign by reporting any suspicious activities related to the sale of illegal liquor, with officials promising strict action against those found in violation of the law.
