Arunachal: Junior engineer apprehended for accepting bribe in PWD western zone office
Northeast Desk, 13th February: The Special Investigation Cell (SIC) achieved a significant breakthrough with the arrest of CK Singh, a junior engineer at the Public Works Department (PWD) western zone office, on charges of bribery. Singh, hailing from Hailalkandi district in Assam, was apprehended by the vigilant SIC team while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The arrest followed a meticulous operation prompted by a complaint lodged by a distressed individual, who had faced prolonged harassment from Singh regarding the renewal process of his firm’s license. Acting swiftly upon the complaint, the SIC team, led by Inspectors M Riba, B Krong, and K Lama, alongside Constables J Loya, P Mondal, YK Pandey, and M Ojha, executed a strategic plan utilizing scientific technology.
SP Anant Mittal of the SIC emphasized Singh’s persistent solicitation of bribes, which impeded the license renewal procedure for the complainant. The successful arrest underscores the SIC’s commitment to combat corruption and uphold integrity in public service.
