Arunachal: Koyu Village Sets Up Task Force Checkpoint to Combat Illegal Activities in Lower Siang
Koyu, Lower Siang – In an initiative to curb illegal activities, Koyu village in Lower Siang district has established a checkpoint at its entry point, managed by a dedicated village-level task force.
The checkpoint, launched on November 5, is designed to monitor and deter activities such as drug trafficking, illegal hunting, unauthorized fishing, timber logging, and the sale of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).
The task force, founded under the leadership of Kenter Kobo, Youth President of the Koyu Youth Welfare Society, aims to safeguard the community from various forms of illegal trade and anti-social behavior. Kobo, who is an active member of the task force, emphasized that the checkpoint will serve as a critical measure to track and report these activities, ensuring the village remains a secure environment.
“The checkpoint will play a pivotal role in preventing illegal trafficking, curbing unauthorized IMFL sales, and controlling illicit hunting, fishing, and logging in and around Koyu,” Kobo stated. He further added that the task force is committed to swiftly informing the authorities about any breaches for prompt action.
In addition to these efforts, the task force has issued an appeal to residents of neighboring villages across Lower Siang, East Siang, and other districts, urging them to refrain from engaging in unlawful activities. The initiative underscores the community’s resolve to maintain order and protect its natural resources from exploitation.
