Arunachal: Landslides Prompt Closure of Key Road in Upper Siang

Northeast Desk, 5th July: The Deputy Commissioner of Upper Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh on July 5 announced the closure of a crucial stretch of the Dite Dimme-Migging road due to multiple landslides and adverse weather conditions. The affected segment extends from Moying (Km 92+250) to Migging (Km 189+100).

The official notice highlighted that the region has experienced numerous landslides and landslips over the past week, caused by continuous heavy rainfall. As a result, the road will remain closed until July 7 at 6 pm, pending further evaluation.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is actively working to clear the debris and reopen the road for public use, but their efforts are being hindered by the persistent bad weather.

The closure of this nearly 97-kilometer stretch significantly disrupts travel and transportation in Upper Siang. Local authorities are advising residents and travelers to find alternative routes and to exercise caution while navigating the area’s roads.

The district administration has disseminated this information to local officials and community leaders to ensure broad awareness of the road closure. Those planning to travel through Upper Siang are urged to stay updated on the latest traffic advisories and weather conditions.
