Arunachal Leaders Champion Equity and Empowerment on International Women’s Day

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh observed International Women’s Day with a renewed focus on equity and empowerment, as Governor Lt. Gen. KT Parnaik (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu issued heartfelt messages celebrating the women of the state.

Governor Parnaik, in his address, underscored the importance of moving beyond mere celebration and actively pursuing a world where women are afforded equal opportunities to flourish.

He emphasized that the day serves as a powerful reminder of the indispensable role women play as the foundation of families, the strength of communities, and the engine of national advancement.

The governor’s message resonated with the day’s theme, “Embracing Equity, Inspiring Change,” calling for tangible steps to ensure women’s empowerment. He specifically acknowledged the remarkable resilience, strength, and excellence exhibited by women across Arunachal Pradesh, whose contributions are vital to the state’s progress.

Governor Parnaik affirmed the government’s unwavering dedication to the holistic development of women, recognizing their empowerment as a cornerstone of an inclusive and prosperous society. He further encouraged every woman to recognize her inherent value, assert her rights, and pursue greater opportunities in leadership, economic independence, and all other spheres.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, through his social media platforms, echoed the governor’s sentiments, extending his warm greetings to women worldwide. In his post, he celebrated the strength, resilience, and achievements of women, calling for continued support and empowerment to build a brighter and more equitable future. Khandu also highlighted the diverse contributions of women, spanning from sports to leadership, entrepreneurship to community building, and their critical role in shaping a better future for everyone.

Notably, on this occasion, the Chief Minister had the pleasure of meeting Sonam Zomba, a mixed martial arts fighter from Arunachal Pradesh, at his office, further illustrating the diverse accomplishments of the state’s women. This meeting served as a tangible example of the women of Arunachal Pradesh excelling in various fields, demonstrating their significant impact on the state and beyond.
