Arunachal Legislative Assembly Gears Up for 13th Session

Northeast Desk, 7th February: The 13th session of the Seventh Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh is set to commence on February 8, 2024. Scheduled to take place at the Legislative Assembly in Itanagar, the two-day session will kick off at 10:00 a.m.

During this session, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, also serving as the state finance and planning minister, is anticipated to present the Eleventh Report of the Business Advisory Committee. Additionally, Mein will introduce the Arunachal Pradesh Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

Minister of Land Management Nakap Nalo will also play a crucial role by introducing the Arunachal Pradesh (Land Settlement and Records) (Amendment) Bill, 2024. Furthermore, Bameng Felix is set to introduce the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2024, while CM Khandu will introduce the Arunachal Pradesh (Re-organisation of Districts) (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

This assembly session holds particular significance as it marks the last session of the 7th legislative assembly before the upcoming elections. The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, comprising 60 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) directly elected from single-seat constituencies, plays a pivotal role in the state’s governance and legislative process. Notably, Bordumsa-Diyun stands as the only unreserved constituency among these.

Pasang Dorjee Sona currently serves as the Speaker of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, having held the position since May 2019. The assembly session serves as a crucial platform for discussing and deciding upon financial allocations and legislative priorities, reflecting the state’s democratic processes and governance mechanisms.
