Arunachal lifts the ILP ban to boost Tourism

Guwahati:  With the improving number of COVID-19 cases, Arunachal Pradesh government decided to lift the ban on Inner Line Permit (ILP) and Protection area Permit (PAP) in the state.

The decision was taken in state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Prema Khandu.

Speaking to media, Home Minister Bamang Felix said that the cabinet agreed to lift the suspension on the issuing ILP and PAP to reopen the State for tourists who have received both doses of COVID vaccines.

“The administration will also issue a COVID proper behaviour for travellers”, he added.

Felix further stated that the decision of the cabinet will benefit the tour operators, hoteliers, cab operators, homestay owners and all tourism-associated stakeholders as they had been going through financial problems because of the suspension.

It may be mentioned that the ILP regime restricted the entry and regulated stay of outsiders in Arunachal Pradesh under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873.
