Arunachal: Lohit District Hit Hard by Destructive Storm
Itanagar: A fierce storm, unleashing torrential rainfall and a barrage of hailstones, has ravaged the Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh, leaving a trail of devastation across agricultural lands, residential properties, and crucial infrastructure.
The impact of the severe weather event was felt acutely in various parts of the district, with Tezu township bearing a significant brunt of the damage. In response to the widespread destruction, the district administration has issued an urgent public advisory, cautioning residents and outlining necessary precautions.
The powerful storm has also resulted in the temporary breakdown of essential utilities, including electricity and water supply, compounding the difficulties faced by the affected population. Swift action is underway as emergency response teams from relevant government departments are engaged in continuous efforts to reinstate normalcy in the region. Officials have strongly advised residents to remain within the safety of their homes and to refrain from non-essential movement until the weather conditions improve and the situation stabilises.
In a direct appeal to the community, the District Administration conveyed, “We request all citizens to remain calm, exercise patience, and stay updated through official channels. Your cooperation is crucial during this time.”
Demonstrating immediate concern and support, the Tezu-Sunpura Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and Advisor to the Health Minister, Dr. Mohesh Chai, personally inspected the storm-affected areas within Tezu township earlier today. During his assessment, Dr. Chai offered reassurance to the affected individuals, pledging that all feasible support would be extended to aid them in the process of rebuilding their lives and recovering from the losses incurred.
The district administration remains vigilant, maintaining a close watch on the evolving situation. Assurances have been given to the public that timely updates regarding the progress of restoration work and any further developments will be communicated through official channels as they become available.
