Arunachal: Major Fire Devastates Multiple Houses in Itanagar
Northeast Desk, 16th October: A significant fire incident occurred today in the Chimpu area of Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, leaving several houses gutted.
The fire broke out early in the morning, at around 5:30 AM, at the residence of Nabam Shelly, attributed to an electric short circuit. It quickly spread to nearby houses, exacerbated when a gas cylinder exploded at the residence of Gollo Alish Nabam, further fueling the fire’s progression.
Reports indicate that around eight to nine houses have been affected by the devastating fire. Residents at the scene expressed frustration with the delayed response from the fire brigade.
One resident stated, “Police came after a long time. By that time, other members of the house had already arrived. We called the fire brigade several times, and others also called them, but there was no response. If they had arrived in time, the extent of the damage could have been minimized.”
Another resident echoed similar concerns, highlighting the delayed arrival of the fire brigade. “The police arrived earlier, but the fire brigade came towards the end. By then, everything was over. Now, nothing is left. All our belongings, property, and money are lost in the fire,” the resident lamented.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of prompt emergency response, especially during fire incidents, where timely action can significantly mitigate damage and loss.
