Arunachal: Minister Sona’s Surprise School Inspection Unearths Lapses in East Siang

Itanagar: In a move underscoring the Arunachal Pradesh government’s commitment to educational reform, Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona conducted a series of unannounced inspections across several schools in the East Siang district.

The surprise visits have brought to light significant lapses in institutional functioning, prompting a stern warning from the minister of impending transfers and strict action against negligent staff.

Sona’s itinerary included visits to key educational establishments, namely Upper Primary School Lumpo, Government Higher Secondary School Sille, Government Higher Secondary School Nari, Government Indira Gandhi Upper Primary School Pasighat, and Government Lal Bahadur Shastri Upper Primary School Pasighat. His inspection team, which included senior officials, meticulously evaluated various aspects of the schools’ operations, from classroom allotments and infrastructure maintenance to the condition of toilet facilities. A significant point of focus was also the implementation of the PM Poshan mid-day meal scheme, a crucial component of student welfare.

During his visits, Minister Sona expressed profound concern over several breaches of established norms. He issued a clear directive to teachers and staff to immediately rectify practices that undermine discipline and educational quality. The minister was particularly vocal about the issue of officials who fail to report for duty even after their transfer postings have been sanctioned. “Dereliction of duty will not be tolerated,” he stated firmly, emphasizing that such actions would lead to severe consequences. Sona reiterated that ensuring accountability is paramount to providing students with the quality learning environment they rightfully deserve.
