Arunachal: Minor Girl Rescued in Joint Operation Against Human Trafficking
Itanagar: A joint operation conducted by Tinsukia Police and the Women Police Station (WPS), Itanagar, successfully rescued a minor girl who was allegedly sold into human trafficking.
The operation, spearheaded by Inspector Nich Rupa of WPS Itanagar, led to the rescue of the victim from the residence of Chello Aaw in Lobby, Itanagar. The victim was reportedly intercepted by her aunt, Sunita Bumis, on December 26, 2024, and subsequently separated from her cousin.
The victim was allegedly sold for a sum of Rs 2,00,000. Following the rescue, the minor underwent a medical examination and was reported to be in stable condition. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend those involved in the trafficking network.
The Superintendent of Police (SP), Capital Police, emphasized the importance of public awareness and urged citizens to refrain from employing minors as domestic help. He stressed the need for thorough police verification when hiring workers to ensure safety and mitigate risks of exploitation or fraud.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat human trafficking and safeguard vulnerable individuals.
