Arunachal Monsoon Havoc: Sarli-Koloriang Road Washed Out, Review Meeting Held to Assess Flood Damages

Northeast Desk, 5th July: In Arunachal Pradesh, relentless monsoon rains have caused severe disruption, especially in Kurung Kumey district where the 47-kilometer Sarli-Koloriang road has been completely washed out, rendering all bridges impassable and effectively isolating Sarli town from surrounding areas.

On July 4, Chief Minister Pema Khandu conducted a review meeting via video conference from Tawang to assess the flood situation across the state. He was joined online by Nakap Nalo, Advisor to the Minister of Disaster Management, and Chief Secretary Dharmendra from Itanagar. The meeting focused extensively on evaluating damages to state and national highways, roads, drinking water supply systems, power infrastructure, and the availability of essential supplies like food and medicine.

CM Khandu highlighted the unpredictable nature of the monsoon season and directed all departments to maintain a high state of vigilance and readiness until September. He emphasized the need for proactive measures, ensuring that even areas currently unaffected are prepared to handle any potential impact from the ongoing floods.
