Arunachal: Naharlagun Police Arrest Man for Heroin Possession in Targeted Drug Operation
Northeast Desk, 15th September: In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Naharlagun police have arrested a 30-year-old man, Rajen Brahma, from Basbaari, Kokrajhar, Assam, for alleged possession of heroin. The arrest was made on September 14 as part of the ongoing “Operation Dawn” initiative, aimed at curbing the drug menace in the region.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team led by Inspector K. Dev intercepted a Tata Nexon vehicle in Dokum Colony, Naharlagun. Upon a thorough search, officers discovered 12.6 grams of heroin hidden in a soap case, which had been concealed within footwear.
The operation involved several officers, including HC Taki Moya, Constables Sanu T Raaj, Tadar Aneek, and Tadar Kabung, under the direct supervision of SP Naharlagun, Mihin Gambo. A case has been registered against Brahma under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities have called on the public to continue cooperating in efforts to combat drug trafficking, highlighting the crucial role that community involvement plays in ensuring the success of such operations.
