Arunachal: Naharlagun Police Step Up Patrols Under ‘Cops and Community’ Drive to Combat Anti-Social Activities

Itanagar: In a proactive move to curb drug trafficking, alcohol abuse, and other unlawful activities, the Naharlagun Police in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) of Arunachal Pradesh have ramped up patrolling in isolated and vulnerable zones under their jurisdiction.

The intensified efforts come as part of the ongoing ‘Cops and Community’ initiative, which aims to build stronger community relations while enhancing public safety.

Police teams have been conducting routine patrols across sensitive locations including riverbanks, abandoned structures, railway tracks, and roadside areas falling under Papu Hills, Naharlagun, Nirjuli, and Banderdewa police stations. These spots, often targeted by anti-social elements during late hours, are now under regular watch.

Officers involved in the initiative are not only monitoring activity but also engaging directly with youths found in these areas. Through counselling and conversation, they are discouraging unlawful behaviour and encouraging responsible, law-abiding conduct.

Officials stated that the drive seeks to create a safer social environment while fostering mutual trust and cooperation between police personnel and the public. The ‘Cops and Community’ programme continues to evolve as a people-centric approach to policing, with community engagement at its core.
