Namsai – In a moment of immense pride for the district, Namsai and its Chongkham block were today feted for their stellar performance under the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme. A special ceremony, the ‘Sampoornata Abhiyan Samman Samaroh,’ was held to honour the remarkable achievement of saturating key performance indicators (KPIs), a campaign that ran from July to September 2024.
The district’s commendable efforts have earned it a bronze medal under the Aspirational District category, while Chongkham block has secured a copper medal under the Aspirational Block category from the NITI Aayog. These national awards are slated to be formally presented in Itanagar on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner C R Khampa highlighted that the success was the result of a meticulously coordinated effort across multiple departments. The concerted action of Health & Family Welfare, Women and Child Development, Agriculture, Power, and Education departments was instrumental in saturating four KPIs for the Namsai Aspirational District Programme and three for the Chongkham Aspirational Block Programme. The event served as a testament to the power of synergy and collective will, as frontline workers and officials were recognised for their tireless dedication.
Chief guest and Namsai MLA, Chau Zingnu Namchoom, showered praise on the frontline workers and stakeholders, acknowledging their invaluable contribution. With the spectre of rising dengue cases looming, the MLA also stressed the urgent need for heightened public awareness and proactive preventive measures.
In a significant announcement, he pledged 10% of his MLALAD fund towards skill development initiatives, a strategic move to further bolster the district’s performance. He motivated the attendees to draw inspiration from other successful districts and work towards making Namsai a truly “inspirational district.”
