Arunachal: Namsai Police Bust Drug Ring, Two Arrested

Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh – In a significant crackdown on the drug trade, the Anti-Narcotic Squad of Namsai, acting on precise intelligence, apprehended two individuals and seized a quantity of suspected heroin in a swift operation earlier today. The arrests underscore the Namsai District Police’s unwavering resolve to combat drug trafficking within the community.

The operation commenced with a targeted raid at Solungtoo village, where officers successfully nabbed 31-year-old Shakuntala Rai. During the search, authorities discovered 11.10 grams of suspected heroin, cleverly hidden inside a white plastic soap case. The entire seizure process was conducted in strict adherence to NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act protocols, with a Gazetted Officer present to oversee the proceedings, ensuring complete transparency and legality.

Further investigation, propelled by information gleaned during Rai’s arrest, led the squad to the residence of Nang Momi Hopak, also 31 years of age. Hopak was subsequently taken into custody, identified as the alleged supplier of the illicit narcotics. Both Shakuntala Rai and Nang Momi Hopak are currently under police custody, and formal legal proceedings under the stringent NDPS Act have been initiated against them.

The Namsai District Police reiterated their firm commitment to rooting out the menace of drug trafficking and fostering a drug-free environment for all its citizens.
