Arunachal: NPP Declares Retired Educator Talem Jamoh as its Candidate for 35th Pangin-Boleng Assembly Constituency

Northeast Desk, 25th October: As preparations intensify for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the National People’s Party (NPP) officially declared Talem Jamoh, a retired Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE), as its candidate for the 35th Pangin-Boleng (ST) Assembly Constituency in a formal ceremony held at Rasing village in Siang District.

The declaration of the candidate took place in Rasing, Talem Jamoh’s native village, where well-wishers, relatives, and villagers bestowed their blessings upon him, wishing him the best of luck in the forthcoming assembly elections. Key members of the NPP, including State Secretary and Siang, East Siang, and Upper Siang in-charge Tamo Taggu, NPP District President Taking Pazing, and District Youth President Anu Tali, attended the event. They expressed hope that NPP candidate Talem Jamoh would succeed in the election.

Talem Jamoh, having hailed from very humble profession of teaching whose journey in education department started since 1985 as an Assistant Teacher. He served in various capacities within the education department until his retirement as DDSE of Siang district in 2021. His entry into active politics is expected to introduce significant changes in the political landscape of the 35th Pangin-Boleng constituency.

Jamoh is recognized for his strong dedication to education and his benevolent nature among former students, peers, and the community. This commitment led to his recognition when Mama Natung, the Minister of Environment, Forest, Climate Change, Sports, and Water Resources Development, presented him with a Commendation Certificate for his effective administration as the Principal of the Government Higher Secondary School in Bazar Line, Seppa, East Kameng district.

Speaking to the media after being officially declared as the NPP candidate, Talem Jamoh outlined his priorities for the development of his constituency and the state. He emphasized that while funds are allocated by the government for crucial development projects, the utilization of these resources for the public’s benefit is often inadequate. He assured the public that, if elected, he would not compromise on the development of his constituency.

Regarding the contentious issue of constructing a hydroelectric power dam on the Siang River, which has faced strong opposition from the public, Jamoh advocated for a negotiated solution that considers both the public’s concerns and government interests. He underscored that forceful implementation would not succeed without public cooperation, emphasizing the importance of a collaborative approach.
