Arunachal: Nyishi Elite Society Condemns ‘Barbaric’ Killing of Mising Youths, Urges Calm
Itanagar: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has vehemently condemned the tragic deaths of two Mising youths from Assam, an incident they have labelled a “barbaric” and “inhuman” act. The society expressed its profound grief and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, calling for immediate and decisive action from the authorities.
In a recent media address, the NES stressed that criminal acts should never be attributed to an entire community. A representative stated unequivocally, “A criminal is a criminal—regardless of tribe or identity,” urging the public to refrain from generalising the incident and fostering communal disharmony.
The society has issued a direct appeal to the Arunachal Pradesh government, urging them to expedite the investigation and ensure the perpetrators face exemplary punishment. They also called upon civil society organisations within the Mising community to avoid interpreting the incident through a communal lens, reinforcing that it was an isolated criminal act. The NES reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to peace and harmony, pledging its continued commitment to preserving the long-standing amicable relations between the Nyishi and Mising communities.
