Arunachal: Papu Hills Police Net Two, Seize Heroin in Borum-Doimukh Drug Bust
In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0, the Papu Hills Police have successfully apprehended two individuals and confiscated 55.05 grams of suspected heroin during a meticulously planned operation conducted in the Borum-Doimukh area of Arunachal Pradesh.
Acting on reliable intelligence concerning illicit narcotics trade in the Borum region, a dedicated police team spearheaded the raid. The operation was under the command of SDPO Naharlagun Rishi Longdo, accompanied by Inspectors Torum Mai and Bobby Sumyan, along with constables Sachin K. Rao, Sonam Namgey, and Pisa Tavak. The entire operation unfolded under the vigilant supervision of Superintendent of Police Naharlagun, Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS.
The initial phase of the operation saw the interception of a suspect near the Borum Bridge. The individual was later identified as Soriful Islam, aged 41, hailing from Chandmari, Lakhimpur, Assam. Preliminary interrogation of Islam yielded vital clues that directed the police team to a secondary location situated in Doimukh.
Following the lead, the police executed a subsequent raid on the identified residence in Doimukh. This decisive action led to the apprehension of the primary suspect, Techi Bharat, a 26-year-old resident of Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh. In adherence to established legal procedures, a thorough personal and residential search was conducted, culminating in the seizure of 39 vials containing the suspected heroin, which collectively weighed 55.05 grams.
A formal case has been registered at the Papu Hills Police Station under Case No. 48/25, invoking sections 21(b) and 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Both Soriful Islam and Techi Bharat are currently in police custody as investigations proceed.
