Arunachal: Papum Pare DC Pledges Full Support to NEEPCO Against Illegal Activities
Itanagar: The Papum Pare district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav, has committed to providing comprehensive support to NEEPCO’s Pare Hydro Power Project. The assurance comes after a review visit on June 10, where the DC acknowledged critical issues like illegal mining, unregulated public activity, and encroachment that are adversely affecting the project’s operations.
During her extensive tour, DC Yadav meticulously inspected the dam site at Jampa, assessing its operations and reviewing the preparedness measures for the upcoming monsoon season. She was joined by District Disaster Management Officer Nima Tashi and other key officials, underscoring the collective approach to infrastructure management.
The DC’s itinerary included visits to the Dam Control Operation Room, Powerhouse, and Switchyard at Sopo. There, she engaged directly with engineers and staff, commending their dedication to managing this vital infrastructure and maintaining operational stability, especially as the monsoon season approaches.
A subsequent meeting at the Powerhouse conference hall saw NEEPCO officials presenting a detailed overview of their disaster preparedness strategies and infrastructure resilience. They highlighted the persistent challenges posed by illegal sand mining, unchecked picnicking, and encroachments along the riverbanks and reservoir areas, explicitly requesting the district administration’s proactive intervention.
Responding to these concerns, DC Yadav firmly assured the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) of the administration’s complete cooperation. She stated that prompt and necessary action would be taken to address and resolve these pressing issues, signaling a strong partnership between the district and NEEPCO.
Furthermore, DC Yadav inspected the Bailey bridge, which links Sopo to Lekhi village. This crucial piece of infrastructure, built with support from the Pare Project’s Local Area Development Fund (LADF), stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit between NEEPCO and the local administration.
The visit saw the presence of key NEEPCO officials, including Sania Ngurang, Head of Plant, Pare Hydro Power Station; Taba Gagung, DGM (Tech), Hydro Structure Maintenance & Infrastructure Division; and Santanu Deb, DGM (Tech), Powerhouse & Switchyard Division.
