Arunachal: Phurpa Tsering Conducts Grassroots Tour in West Kameng, Pushes for Inclusive Rural Development

Dirang – Phurpa Tsering, MLA of the 4-Dirang (ST) Assembly Constituency and Advisor to the Minister of PWD, Arunachal Pradesh, recently embarked on a comprehensive developmental tour covering Munna Camp, Namshu, and Khalibuk villages. The initiative focused on directly engaging with local communities to understand their needs and accelerate inclusive growth in the remote corners of West Kameng district.

During his visit, Tsering chaired a development meeting where he called upon the District Administration and departmental heads to devise an integrated roadmap for reaching the last mile. He emphasized that developmental efforts must equally uplift even the most geographically isolated villages, ensuring no community is left behind.

Citing the agricultural promise of Namshu and Khalibuk, the MLA highlighted the urgent requirement for quality link roads to facilitate the transport of produce. He instructed the Rural Works Department (RWD) to maintain stringent construction standards while executing infrastructure projects in these areas.

Promoting sustainable farming, Tsering encouraged villagers to return to traditional organic practices and shun chemical-based inputs. To support local farmers, he announced mass fencing projects in Namshu to protect crops from wildlife and other disturbances. Further strengthening village infrastructure, he committed to establishing a community gallery for hosting public meetings and cultural programs.

In a move to safeguard the region’s ecological balance, the MLA also announced the formation of an Environmental Protection Committee under the Namshu Village Council, tasked with preserving the area’s natural heritage.

Deputy Commissioner Akriti Sagar, IAS, joined the tour and informed residents about plans to establish a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Namshu, providing new educational opportunities for rural students. She also issued a stern warning against man-made forest fires, stating that violators would face legal consequences.

Superintendent of Police Sudhansu Dhama, IPS, addressed the pressing issue of drug abuse, urging the youth to stay away from harmful substances. He praised the Namshu community for remaining drug-free and maintaining peace during recent elections.

The event saw the active participation of administrative officers, departmental heads, ZPM, PRI representatives, BJP workers, and a large gathering of local villagers. Community members from Munna Camp, Namshu, and Khalibuk used the platform to voice their concerns and submit proposals for future development.
