Arunachal Plans to Build Larger Football Stadium Following Thrilling Santosh Trophy Finale

Northeast Desk, 10th March: After a thrilling finale match between the Services team and Goa in the 77th National Football Championship, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced the state government’s plan of constructing a football stadium larger than the Golden Jubilee within the Itanagar capital region.

The announcement came during the closing ceremony of the 77th National Football Championship of Santosh Trophy on March 9.

Expressing his elation at the fervor surrounding football, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who witnessed the thrilling final match, unveiled the government’s ambitious plans.

Taking to platform X, Khandu shared his excitement over the match and congratulated the Services team for their victory.

Services emerged victorious, lifting the Santosh Trophy for the seventh time by defeating Goa 1-0 in the final match at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Papum Pare District, Arunachal Pradesh.

The stadium witnessed a remarkable turnout of over 15,000 passionate fans who cheered on their favorite teams. Services’ Shafeel PP scored the winning goal in the 68th minute, securing their seventh title in the history of the competition. Services goalkeeper Sayad Bin Abdul Kadir was named the player of the match for his outstanding performance.
