Arunachal Pradesh: 3 Workers Abducted By NSCN K(YA)
Guwahati: Three workers from Pumao of Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding district were allegedly abducted by the Militants of the banned outfit National Socialist Council of Nagaland’s (NSCN) K(YA).
The three abducted have been identified as Bangphua Wangpan, a resident of Langkhao village, Hiren Konch and Ramasish Mahato from Jalpaiguri of West Bengal.
According to reports, the three abducted were road construction workers. They were working on the construction of the Pumao-Langkhow road. They were staying at a campsite from where they were abducted.
According to police, the three labourers who were kidnapped were brought to Nyasa in Nagaland.
The extremists are said to have released one of them, Bangphua Wangpan, while the other two are still held captive, reports claimed.
Meanwhile, security forces in Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar launched a coordinated operation against the insurgent group in the bordering districts.
The abductors allegedly grabbed the workers’ cell phones and vehicle keys from the encampment. The remaining workers had to go many kilometres to notify the police, which resulted in information of the kidnapping arriving late Tuesday evening.
During a joint operation in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, numerous members of the proscribed insurgent group NSCN K(YA) were apprehended.
The insurgent group has been active in the Longding district for some months, and kidnapping and extortion instances have increased.
The police official further informed that this is not the first time the organisation has kidnapped road construction employees. Many kidnappings had occurred previously, with the kidnapped victims ultimately being released once the ransom money was paid.
