Arunachal Pradesh Achieves 100% Enrolment in Elementary Education, Reduces Secondary Dropout Rate

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced a significant improvement in the state’s education sector, with the enrolment rate in elementary education reaching an impressive 100% and the dropout rate at the secondary level dropping to 11.7%.

Taking to social media, Khandu highlighted the state’s achievement, crediting “Team Arunachal” for its impactful efforts aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

“Our concerted efforts have yielded remarkable outcomes,” Khandu wrote on X. “The Adjusted Net Enrolment Rate in elementary education has reached 100%, and the average annual school dropout rate at the secondary level has reduced significantly.”

He attributed the success to innovative initiatives such as the ‘Building as Learning Aid’ programme and the establishment of Eklavya Model Residential Schools, which have expanded access to modern and inclusive educational facilities across the state.

The progress aligns with Arunachal Pradesh’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2024, particularly SDG 4, which focuses on quality education. According to the 2024 SDG Scoreboard, the state has achieved a 100% adjusted net enrolment rate in elementary education and successfully reduced secondary school dropouts.

Khandu emphasized that these strides reflect Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to fostering inclusive and quality education for every child, laying a solid foundation for the state’s educational future.
