Arunachal Pradesh Aims to Become a Global Tourism Hotspot, CM Khandu Unveils Vision at ITM 2023
Kaziranga: Arunachal Pradesh is setting its sights on becoming a premier global tourism destination, Chief Minister Pema Khandu declared at the inaugural ceremony of the 12th International Tourism Mart (ITM) in Kaziranga on Wednesday.
Khandu outlined a comprehensive vision for the state’s tourism sector, emphasizing sustainable development and community empowerment. “We aim to showcase our rich cultural heritage, diverse adventure opportunities, and pristine natural beauty to the world,” he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of collaboration among Northeastern states to collectively promote the region as a unified tourism destination. “Such events as the ITM strengthen our unity and help us showcase our collective strengths,” he added.
To achieve its ambitious goals, Arunachal Pradesh is focusing on several key initiatives:
- Infrastructure Development: Enhancing connectivity and developing iconic treks, trails, and cultural festivals.
- Sustainable Tourism: Prioritizing eco-friendly practices and minimizing the environmental impact.
- Community Empowerment: Empowering local communities through initiatives like homestays, skill development, and cultural preservation.
- Border Tourism: Leveraging the Vibrant Village Programme to transform border villages into sustainable tourism hubs.
Khandu extended an invitation to adventure tour operators to attend the 16th Annual Conference of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) in Tawang, further emphasizing the state’s commitment to adventure tourism.
With its breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and unique cultural heritage, Arunachal Pradesh is poised to captivate global travelers. By focusing on sustainable development and community empowerment, the state aims to create a lasting impact on its economy and society.
