Itanagar: The 95th birth anniversary of the late Dr. Daying Ering, hailed as the architect of modern Arunachal Pradesh, was commemorated with grandeur at the Giidii Notko festival ground.

Organized by the Daying Ering Heritage Portal (DEHP) under the Himalayan Tribal Heritage Society (HTHS), the event honored Dr. Ering’s enduring contributions to the state.

The occasion was graced by Minister of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Ojing Tasing as the Chief Guest and local MLA Tapi Darang as the Guest of Honour. Both dignitaries felicitated prominent socio-cultural figures, including Girin Tamuly, Late Talut Mize, Nanni Dai, Abe Perme, Tagang Taki, Oyem Yomso, Guni Pertin, and Oyem Dai, for their significant contributions to the state. Prizes were also awarded to winners of the Daying Ering essay writing competitions, adding a celebratory note to the event.

In his tribute, Minister Ojing Tasing reflected on Dr. Ering’s pivotal role in shaping modern Arunachal Pradesh, particularly through the introduction of the Panchayati Raj system via the Daying Ering Committee. He highlighted the promulgation of the North Eastern Frontier Agency Panchayati Raj Regulations in 1968 as a landmark initiative by Dr. Ering, describing him as a visionary who left an indelible mark on the state’s socio-cultural and political fabric.
