Arunachal Pradesh: Centre Allocates Rs 1,782 Crore for New Greenfield Road
Northeast Desk, 10th January: In a significant boost to infrastructure development in Arunachal Pradesh, the Indian government has earmarked a substantial amount of Rs 1,782 crore for the construction of an 82-kilometre greenfield road. The proposed road will connect Pango to Jorging in the Upper Siang district, contributing to enhanced connectivity in the region.
This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve road networks in the state, including the ambitious Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) and other inter-corridors, with an estimated overall expenditure of around Rs 40,000 crore.
The financial commitment follows a previous allocation in December 2023, where the Centre sanctioned Rs 625 crore for an Intermediate Lane Road connecting Tato to Monigong.
The newly planned greenfield road from Pango to Jorging is anticipated to play a pivotal role in improving accessibility and could have strategic significance due to its proximity to sensitive border areas. The broader highway project in Arunachal Pradesh aims to be transformative, fostering better mobility and economic growth across the northeastern state.
