Northeast Desk, 28th December: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu emerges as a vocal advocate for the progress of medical education and healthcare services in the state. Demonstrating his commitment, the Chief Minister recently praised the dedication of Arunachal Pradesh’s doctors, acknowledging their unwavering efforts to meet the health needs of residents. This recognition, shared on his Facebook page, reflects his deep appreciation for the medical community’s contributions.
Under Chief Minister Khandu’s leadership, the Arunachal government launched initiatives like the Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) in 2018. Aligned with the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, this flagship program aims to provide financial assistance to the indigenous community and state government employees, ensuring access to quality medical care services. The scheme seeks to alleviate out-of-pocket expenses during major illnesses and hospitalizations, working towards achieving universal healthcare coverage by 2030.
CMAAY offers cashless healthcare services, covering pre-existing conditions and providing up to Rs 5 lakhs per family per year for hospitalizations. With a network of both public and private hospitals within and outside the state, the scheme includes pre-hospitalization and post-hospitalization expenses. As of October 2022, over half a million beneficiaries were enrolled, with significant claims settled, demonstrating the scheme’s positive impact.
In addition to financial assistance, the Arunachal government emphasizes empowering healthcare professionals with enhanced knowledge and skills. This commitment to strengthening the health system underscores the government’s focus on ensuring healthcare workers are well-equipped to deliver quality care.
