Arunachal Pradesh Concludes 2nd State-Level Annual School Sports Meet 2024 with Spectacular Football Finals
Northeast Desk, 21st September: The 2nd State-Level Annual School Sports Meet 2024 culminated in a grand closing ceremony at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun, showcasing the sportsmanship and talent of Arunachal Pradesh’s young athletes. The tournament, organized by the state government under the Samagra Shiksha/ISSE, focused on Under-17 Boys and Girls Football, with teams from across the state competing for top honors.
In the Girls’ U-17 final, East Kameng emerged victorious over *Anjaw, while in the Boys’ U-17 category, West Siang claimed the championship, defeating Papum Pare. Both finals were fiercely contested, highlighting the rising potential of youth football in the region.
The event’s closing ceremony was attended by Kento Jini, Minister of Law, Legislative & Justice, Social Justice Empowerment, Tribal Affairs, Sports & Youth Affairs, as the Chief Guest, and ICR Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom as the Guest of Honour. Minister Jini praised the athletes’ determination and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to nurturing local talent under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Jini announced plans for international training programs under the state’s Mission Olympics initiative, aiming for medals at the 2028 and 2032 Olympic Games. He also emphasized the government’s focus on grassroots development, with every school now having a designated sports teacher and training period. “Our athletes have already won hundreds of medals, and I am confident they will continue to bring laurels to Arunachal Pradesh,” he remarked.
The sports meet marked a key moment for youth sports in Arunachal Pradesh, solidifying the state’s dedication to fostering athletic excellence.
